MARRIAGE CERTIFICATION

MARRIAGE CERTIFICATION is required for various reasons by various government departments both local and foreign. Such certification is both archived and secured by the DEPARTMENT OF HOME AFFAIRS.

MARRIAGE CERTIFICATION is, depending on your specific requirements, available upon request in an ABRIDGED and

UNABRIDGED format.

THE DIFFERENT FORMATS

• An ABRIDGED MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE (SHORT VERSION) is a certificate issued by the DEPARTMENT OF HOME AFFAIRS, which contains personal details of both parties. (ESTIMATED TURNAROUND 2-3 DAYS)

• An UNABRIDGED MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE (FULL VERSION) is a certificate also issued by the DEPARTMENT OF HOME AFFAIRS, which contains more detailed information. This is a formal certificate and is required for planned travel abroad, emigration of if there are plans to obtain a foreign passport. (ESTIMATED TURNAROUND 6-8 weeks +)

• An APOSTILLE CERTIFICATE is a formal process completed at either the Department of FOREIGN AFFAIRS or the local HIGH COURT, that does encompass the Legalising of official public documents executed within South Africa for use outside the

Republic of South Africa by means of an APOSTILLE CERTIFICATE, where countries are party to The Hague Convention of 5 October 1961. (ESTIMATED TURNAROUND 4 DAYS)
